Whereas an established troop is already well-equipped, a new troop can go through a process of procuring its camping equipment as the needs arise. Stored in an equipment room, a shed, or inside a troop trailer, a troop’s camping equipment is normally classified in two ways:
1. Basic Troop Gear – used by the entire troop
- Dining Flies
- Tents
- Drop Cloths
- Stakes
- Cordage
- Poles
- Large Cooking Items
- Tools (bow saws, hand axes, shovels, etc.)
- First Aid Kit
- Water Containers
2. Basic Patrol Gear – assigned to individual patrols for which they’re accountable, often stored in a patrol box or bag
- Patrol-size Cooking and Cleaning Items
